Racing to keep cool

The team at Major are proud to have completed a brand new air conditioning installation project in the Jockey's changing room for Worcester Racecourse, the home of summer jump racing. The Racecourse set in a stunning location in the heart of Worcester city centre by the River Severn hosts 20 National Hunt jump racing fixtures from May - October every year.

The facilities team at Worcester Racecourse were looking for a quick and effective solution to keeping their champion jockeys cool in the soaring temperatures of the summer heatwave - and able to heat the facilities during the winter months. With a packed events calendar and a race-day fixture due that same week, there were strict project deadlines to meet. Major's experienced air conditioning engineers completed the project quickly, efficiently and with no disruption to the race-schedule.

Jenny Cheshire, Executive Director at Worcester Racecourse said: “Major Refrigeration and Air Conditioning recently installed 4 air conditioning units into the ceiling of the jockey’s changing area of the Weighing room at Worcester Racecourse.  The service we received was very efficient, the work was completed on time and the effect of the units has been much appreciated by the jockeys and their valets especially during the recent hot weather.”

The team look forward to attending the Racecourse on 29th August when they’re sponsoring the Handicap Hurdle - the fourth race of the day, starting at 6.15pm!
